We’re going to close this topic now. The two boys in question have been arrested and charged, and the case is making its way through the justice system.
Dusty the cat, and his companion, Patches, are both in good hands, and will be headed off to new homes very soon.

[…] Two Boys Abuse Cat - Bring Them to Justice
since that is a black cat does this qualify as a hate crime?
Do all of you people seriously believe that trying these kids as adults, putting them into a broken, failing legal system to become $40k/year burdens on society for years, then releasing them to a world that’s leaped ahead while they’ve been sitting still for half their lives will fix ANYTHING? Stop wasting bandwidth on erroneous trial petitions and go out and send your representative in the legislature a letter saying that the legal system needs to become a priority, so that those who go to prison receive proper resources and penitence so that we have thoughtful, educated, enlightened human beings coming out of jail, rather than rapists, murderers, and junkies.
I strongly oppose Animal Cruelty, but you people need to get your priorities straight. Punishment isn’t the solution to a society that’s blinded itself with its own idiocy. Our legal system is based on 6000 years of tried and tested legal structure; going back to the primitive methods used in ancient Mesopotamia will not magically “cure” society of its evils. Everyone here who thinks this kid deserves reciprocity for his actions needs to get real. Such a mindset debilitates our society and reverses our culture. Wake up–this kid needs enlightenment, not punishment. He needs the guidance of skilled counselors and the experience of extensive community service.
I hope the cat and these two boys are blessed by a thorough recovery and can move on two caring environments in a world less cruel than the one represented here.
