Ford Goes After Enthusiast Web Forums

Looks like Ford doesn’t much care what the public thinks now that they don’t have their hand out for a bailout.  They’ve decided to try and alienate the very enthusiasts that are keeping them in business.

Jim Oaks, owner of The Ranger Station, a Ford truck enthusiast forum that has been around for 9 years,  reported on his site that he received a nastygram from Ford’s attorneys, demanding that he release control of the domain name therangerstation.com, change the name of his forum, and pay Ford $5000 for trademark infringement.

As can be expected, longtime forum participants are up in arms and angry with Ford’s decision to go after enthusiast Web sites.  The Ranger Station isn’t the only victim of Ford’s overzealous legal eagles - at least two other sites, Michigan Mustang, and Mustang Evolution, have also received similar notices.

Think Ford is way off base attacking the very fans that keep them from being the next company in line for a bailout?  Let them know via their online contact form.
